What Eating Becomes A Sickness

Binge Eating is also called Obsessive-Compulsive Overeating and is present in Bulimia Nervosa, another eating disorder. It is the most common eating disorder and involves consuming large amount of food during a short period of time and is usually followed by feelings of guilt over the binge-eating episode. Bing eaters, however, do not purge themselves. During the binge-eating episode, a person may feel totally out of control and could consume food to the point of being uncomfortably full. Since the binge-eating episodes usually lead to feelings of guilt and depression over the inability to control oneself, binge eaters would usually hide what they do even from close family members.

Based on researches, people who suffer from binge-eating also suffer from depression. There have also been reported cases of binge-eating resulting from a dysfunctional hypothalamus as well as serotonin imbalance.

Some of the long-term effects of binge-eating include obesity, nutritional deficiencies, diabetes, hypertension, gall bladder diseases as well as heart diseases.
