Psychologically a person can be affected by an eating disorder. In fact, many eating disorders are caused by psychological problems that the person developed. When you look at a person who is suffering from an eating disorder, you have to wonder how stable they are, psychologically. While psychological problems are not the main cause of eating disorders, they can be just as bad and can become a major problem if not caught in time. For those who are suffering from an eating disorder because of their mental state, you may notice signs like trouble thinking, trouble concentrating on what you are saying, and most importantly, paranoia. Paranoia gives a person with psychological problems the assumption that they are fat. Voices in their head are often the reason they assume they need to start these horrible eating habits that lead to an eating disorder. The best way to treat a psychological eating disorder is to get the help of a psychologist.
