Social Causes of Eating Disorders

Social causes of eating disorders seem like the favored among the highest ranked causes. It seems like as you notice the world today, everyone is thinking “thin”, in the wrong type of way. Everywhere you see billboards and advertisements that shown models that look like they could be anorexic. The problem with this is that too many teens are taking this as a sign of what they need to look like and they will do anything to get that thin. Now, this is not saying that being overweight is ok or healthy by any means, but kids are getting sent the wrong message when they see what the world perceives as healthy and fit. Teaching kids and people in general, that you can be healthy and fit without being skinny is the way to go. The struggle to be as thin as the supermodels is what can be the “almighty” cause to the development of an eating disorder. e
