I found Thanksgiving to be an especially difficult time. The main focus of the entire day is…you got it – gorging oneself. Whether your battle is with bulimia, anorexia or compulsive overrating, there are plenty of pitfalls to be found on Turkey Day.
The best way to deal with it? Dig out that ol' Girl Scout Motto (even if you weren't) and be prepared.
This week I'll be sharing some ways to help get ready this year:
Have a buddy to call. Whether it's your sponsor, best friend, or someone else you trust to hold you accountable, don't go through it alone. If you can't be at arm's reach, make sure you've got phone numbers programmed into your cell.
Second, know your trigger foods. Whether it's sugar, flour, or something else, sometimes disordered eating can be made worse if you allow yourself to go down a road you know is dangerous.
