Women are more prone to night eating syndrome than men are

MEDICAL experts said based on study more women especially the youth are affected by night eating syndrome or parasomia than men did.

Parasomia, which affects all people in this planet, consists of those persons who still ate even when they are already sleeping.

The people who ate while sleeping are also not aware of what they are doing and would just be surprised upon waking to see traces of the food they ate the night before.

A study revealed that persons with this disorder typically wake up between one and four times each night and snack on about 300 calories worth of food.

Based on estimate, some 1.5% of the population has night eating syndrome but the condition has been found in up to 15% of the people who are obese. In non-obese night eaters, this syndrome leads to weight gain and obesity after a while.
The American people are reported to be number one in this type of eating disorder wherein they get up all of a sudden in the night from their sleep, venture straight into the kitchen, open the fridge and start eating whatever is there in it - bread, cakes, fruits, cold drinks, soda, chicken, turkey, chips.

For some night eating syndrome is a new type of eating disorder but for those who are affected by it the experience it not something to treasure.

If you have symptoms of night eating syndrome better consult a medical professional immediately before things could get worse.

As any type of eating disorders, night eating syndrome should not be belittle instead it should be address the soonest time possible.
