Female athletes are at risk of having an eating disorder

According to the latest medical news women engaged in active sports have greater chances of experiencing an eating disorder than their peers who are not athletes.

In the study conducted by the International Journal of Eating Disorders, they found out those women athletes are at risk of having an eating disorder since they are higher anxiety and stress problems.

The study conducted on 274 female athletes shows that due to the stress in high-level sports competition women tend to resort to eating to cope up with their anxiety, which would later evolve into an eating disorder.

The relevant data also showed that females who are not engage into active sports sport have low chances of having an eating disorder since there is no pressure on their part to engage into an eating frenzy out of stress and anxiety.

With the result of the study, medical experts have called on the coaches and athletic officials of schools around the globe to closely monitor their female athletes at all times.

Coaches and athletic officials of schools should do their best to detect the some problems and stress bugging their athletes so that these people will not resort to eating to cope up with the anxiety in their highly competitive sport.

Aside from the coaches and athletic officials of schools, the family of women athletes should also play an active part in showing support to their love ones.
The parents and relatives of these female athletes should constantly remind them that sport is just a competition where someone is bound to lose and win so it should not be taken too seriously.

The female athletes for their part should also bear in mind that in order to achieve a healthy body and avoid facing an eating disorder it would be best to avoid stress and anxiety.

If ever female athletes will feel sad or distress from their lose or tough training it would be best that they allow themselves to cool and down and not resort to eating to deal with their condition.

Female athletes should realize that it is not the food that is the solution to their stress and anxiety but their immediate family who will offer them unconditional love and support at all times.

In sport, someone is destined to win and lose so the competition must not be taken too seriously to avoid potential health risk on the part of the athletes.
