Kesha post-rehab: 'That first day of treatment was the scariest of my life'
After stepping through the doors of rehab six months ago, singer Kesha has opened up about her struggles with an eating disorder.
In an interview with Elle UK that was posted in the Atrl forum, Kesha is brutally honest about how the pressures of fame led her to cover up her behavior for years.
"I felt like people were always lurking, trying to take pictures of me with the intention of putting them up online or printing them in magazines and making me look terrible," she said.
But the star's obsession with her looks quickly became problematic - to the point where she wanted to control her weight just to have a perceived sense of control over her life.
"My closest friends saw I needed help. I knew I needed help, too, but didn't know how to ask for it."
Kesha entered rehab on January 2nd, where her star-studded life became much more normal.
"There were no phones, no cameras."
After two months in rehab, Kesha has emerged looking more healthy and confident than ever before.
"I feel stronger now," she said. "Strong enough to admit that I needed help and strong enough to have faced it head on.... Even I need to be reminded that we are who we are."
Kesha is currently starring on the ABC show Rising Star, with Ludacris and Brad Paisley.
