Shakira talks body image and post-baby diet
Shakira – latin pop singing sensation and coach on "The Voice" – says that having a healthy body image starts with confidence.
Six months ago, the 36-year-old gave birth to her son, Milan, and she recently shared some of her self-care and fitness tips in the latest issue of SELF magazine.
Shakira's secret for getting camera-ready so soon after giving birth included setting a goal for herself, which involved Zumba four to five mornings a week and one-on-one sessions with the workout creator Beto Perez.
"After the delivery, you look like a shar-pei!" she tells the magazine. "I did Zumba throughout my pregnancy. That helped me not gain too much weight."
But staying fit isn't so much about looking good on the red carpet, Shakira stresses, and accepting imperfections is part of the deal.
"I don't obsess over my flaws, because I see my body as a whole," she reveals. "Besides, I think men appreciate confidence more than perfection."
'I'm proud of my rear'
Shakira joins the ranks of new mom stars like Kristen Bell and Kim Kardashian, both of whom have recently been thrown into the spotlight concerning their post-baby bodies.
Shakira admits that she's pleased with her progress so far.
"I'm quite proud of my rear," she said.
More of her interview can be found in the latest issue of SELF.
