It very likely could result in death or at least a major cardiac event. When any of the main electrolytes in the body are at an abnormal level, it can be a very dangerous situation.
Usually, low potassium is seen in persons who binge and purge, which depletes this from their system very quickly. But, starvation may also result in this issue.
