How does a person with eating disorder safely start to eat again? How to avoid cramps and stomach and bowel upset?

jayne...you don't mention

jayne...you don't mention what type of eating disorder you are dealing with, but I suspect it is anorexia, or at least restrictive.
It does take your stomach and digestive system time to adjust to 'working' again, but most likely not very long, unless you have long-term damage. The best way is to eat an adequate amount of calories, spaced out through the day. Eating smaller quantities more often will be easier on your system and probably on your emotions as well. If you eat a small meal every two hours or so, which contains some protein, carbohydrates and fat, it should help your body to begin to normalize again. It's important that you have a professional to monitor you, as this process is very difficult. Good luck!!
