‘Ai Pono Hawaii, created by Dr. Anita Johnston, is a connecting point for three distinct programs developed for those individuals in Hawaii seeking the highest quality professional assistance regarding various disordered eating issues.
The Anorexia and Bulimia Center of Hawaii (ABC Hawaii), formed in 1982, is a collection of professionals in Hawaii who specialize in the treatment of eating disorders. The ‘Ai Pono Women’s Program assists women struggling with anorexia, bulimia or compulsive eating as they discover their own pathway to recovery through the nation’s first eating disorders intensive outpatient program (EDIOP). The ‘Ai Pono Body Balance Program provides support and intensive outpatient counseling to women and men struggling with disordered eating and disabling weight issues.
‘Ai Pono Hawaii is a uniquely structured information and healing center created to provide support, understanding and solutions in a loving and nurturing environment. It is not simply a set of unparalleled programs to address disordered eating – it is a passageway for those seeking to discover their own path to recovery.
